About KITLV Press

KITLV Press is the publishing department of the KITLV/Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies, and is the publisher of the longest-running anthropological and linguistic journal in the world (since 1851), Bijdragen tot de Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde (BKI) / Journal of the Humanities and Social Sciences of Southeast Asia and Oceania.

KITLV Press is a not-for-profit academic publisher. We publish about 20 books annually, and three journals. Apart from the BKI, these journals are the New West Indian Guide / Nieuwe West-Indische Gids (NWIG) and Oso, Tijdschrift voor Surinamistiek en het Caraïbisch gebied. Most of our publications are in English.

KITLV Press stands for high-quality books prepared with meticulous editorial care and expertise. Publications are moderately priced to be affordable for the entire scholarly community, individual buyers as well as institutions and libraries.
