Description

This catalogue contains descriptions of the romanized transliterations of manuscripts from Lombok in Javanese and Sasak kept by the Historical Documentation Department of the Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde in Leiden (Or. 508). The 506 items in this collection were collected between 1932 and 1941 by the Gedong Kirtya, Singaraja, Bali. The collection also includes Geoffrey Marrison (1931) has a BA in Malay (1948) and a PhD in linguistics (1967) from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He was Keeper of Oriental Manuscripts and Printed Books, British Library, London, from 1974 to 1983, and from 1992 in an Honorary Fellow in South-East Asian Studies at the University of Hull, where he has prepared and published bibliographies of South-East Asian collections in the Brynmor Jones Library.
