Concluding ceremony Dutch-Indonesian Sandwich Programme

From September until December 2015, a group of 10 scholars from Indonesia visited Leiden. They were here within the framework of a Dutch-Indonesian Sandwich Programme as part of a longstanding cooperation between KITLV and the Department of Religious Affairs. They were all specialists of Hinduism with various backgrounds and different focuses of research. The group consisted of professors, staff members of higher education institutions, PhD-students and teachers of primary schools.

The Indonesian scholars were here for a variety of purposes: some worked on their dissertation, others wanted to write an article or collect material for a book. The role of KITLV was to introduce them to the collections of KITLV and Leiden University and monitor their progress.

Besides attending scholarly activities during their stay and meeting other researchers at Leiden University and elsewhere, they engaged in a series of three seminars organized by Professor Willem van der Molen (senior researcher at KITLV) and Professor Henk Schulte Nordholt (Head of Research KITLV. Here they introduced their topic of research, reported on their progress and presented a final paper. The series was concluded with a short but solemn ceremony during which each participant received a certificate from Henk Schulte Nordholt and Willem van der Molen.
