Meindert van der Kaaij is a part time KITLV researcher working on the Dutch Military Operations in Indonesia, 1945-1950 project. He is also journalist for the Dutch daily newspaper Trouw.

Meindert worked till Juli 2017 as a journalist for different newspapers. He started at Leidsch Dagblad in 1986, was freelance journalist in New York from 1993 till 1996. From 1999 till now he worked for Trouw. In 2012 Meindert graduated from Leiden University with PhD thesis on the biography of the Dutch politician Dirk de Geer.
