Thank you for taking the time to read our very first Traveling Caribbean Heritage (TCH) Newsletter, of which many more will follow in the years to come. We will strive to publish an issue every three months or so. This initial Newsletter is mainly intended to give readers an introduction to this Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO)-funded research project, present the affiliated researchers, and give a brief overview of the upcoming events related to the project.
TCH aims to investigate cultural heritage pertaining to the Dutch Caribbean island communities of the Windwards Antilles (or ‘Leeward Antilles’, as they are referred to in Dutch): Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. However, cultural heritage has a clear trans-Atlantic context, and, therefore, the project also includes research among the Antillean community in the Netherlands.
