Interview with Sony Jean about archaeological and cultural heritage in Haiti

Dr. Joseph Sony Jean talks with Haitian newsoutlet Ayibo Post regarding the current state of archaeological and cultural heritage in Haiti.

Jean explains how a lack of attention for the importance of archaeological and precolonial cultural heritage sites influences their rapid destruction and disappearance. However, there is much that can still be done in order to protect and preserve archaeological and cultural heritage according to Jean. An increase in public awareness regarding the archaeological history of the country, as well as a stable budget for heritage preserving institutions and good public policy are the key to the proper safeguarding Haiti’s archaeological and cultural heritage.
