John Leerdam congratulates authors on publication of ‘Caribbean cultural heritage and the nation’

On the 17th of November John Leerdam congratulates Francio Guadeloupe, Luc Alofs and Alex van Stipriaan on the publication of the book Caribbean cultural heritage and the nation: Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao in a regional context.

Leerdam, born and raised in Curaçao, gave a speech in honor of the publication. Currently ‘kwartiermaker’ for the National Museum of Slavery, Leerdam expressed his appreciation for the attention to the rich cultural heritage of the islands.

The publication includes contributions from 25 scholars from the Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Trinidad, Guyana, Haiti, Barbados and France. A diverse range of topics regarding cultural heritage practices are covered in the book, ranging from ecological heritage, to tourism, sports, arts, reparations, the diaspora and more.
