Seminar on human rights activist Munir Said Thalib

On 30 September KITLV, the Van Vollenhoven Institute (VVI) and Amnesty International (Netherlands) organized a seminar on the murdered Munir Said Thalib, one of the most prominent human rights activists in Indonesia. A powerful account by Munir’s widow Suciwati about her persistent campaign for justice was followed by an expert analyse of president Jokowi’s human rights agenda by Adriaan Bedner (VVI).

Ms. Suciwati also asked attention for the museum dedicated to Munir, ‘Omah Munir’, which means Munir’s house (www.omah.munir.com). Munir’s personal belongings along with documents and photos of him have all been collected and are on display in the museum.
