Meet the people working at KITLV: Rosa de Jong

Meet the people working at KITLV and dive into their world of research!

The KITLV/Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies proudly presents a series of short video portraits of people working at the institute. In these short films our researchers and supporting staff will introduce themselves and tell you more about their work, including the fascinating and diverse research they are doing on and in the Caribbean and Southeast Asia.

Today we launch our first portrait of Rosa de Jong and her research on refugees who fled during the Second World War from the Netherlands to the Caribbean, ending up mainly in Jamaica, Suriname, Curaçao and Cuba. Watch, listen and enjoy!
