Rosa de Jong awarded Alexander Grass Memorial Fellowship

Rosa de Jong, PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam and a guest researcher at KITLV and the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, has been awarded the competitive Alexander Grass Memorial Fellowship for her project ‘From European ports to Caribbean homes: Second World War refugees in global transit’.

For her research on refugees who fled during the Second World War from the Netherlands to the Caribbean, Rosa will spend eight months from January 2022 onwards in the archives at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, located in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC.  Here she will consult the collection of interviews of survivors of the Second World War.

In this short video portrait Rosa will tell more about her research.
