On October 15th 2014, Leiden University celebrates the development of the world’s largest research library on Indonesia and the Caribbean. Prominent speakers will guide you through Indonesian history, culture and personal experiences.
You will be introduced to our future plans to develop both a brick-and-mortar and a digital learning centre to present the Asian collections to the world. This major international centre will support research, education and cultural activities. An Indonesia expert will show you a selection of highlights from the Indonesian collections and current research as displayed in the exhibition Investigating Indonesia.
The development of this Asian Library is a result of the merger between the collections of the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT), The Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV) and the Southeast Asian collections of Leiden University Libraries.
