The symposium ‘Historical Archaeology of the Lesser Antilles’ is organized on occasion of the defense of Cameron Gill, NEXUS1492 affiliated PhD researcher. Cameron’s research, titled Brimstone Sea and Sand focusses on the historic relevance of the Port of Sandy Point and its anchorage from the colonial period until today, on the island of St. Kitts.
Speakers include Prof. dr. Corinne Hofmann (KITLV), Dr. Ruud Stelten (archaeologist at SECAR and the Shipwreck Survey), Dr. Reginald Murphy (Director of Heritage Resources for the National Parks Antigua), and Dr. Jay Haviser (Founder and Director of SIMARC [St. Maarten], SABARC [Saba], and SECAR [St. Eustatius]), all three of whom are renowned Caribbean archaeologists and researchers.
