Grazing Tables is a collaborative series between Ryhan M.Y. and connoisseurs of cuisine in an attempt to renegotiate how visitors perceive food.
Using a series of photographs from Ryhan’s latest project, The Excursion of a Memory 『私たちの軌跡』, chefs and experts will be invited to interpret these images through the vessel of food; creating a complete sensory experience of sight, sound, and smell.
Ryhan together with the KITLV’s TASTE Project will take visitors through the culinary landscape of the Indian Ocean World. Each member of the TASTE project will showcase the three different ways their chosen heritage food products can be prepared. This exhibition will therefore be a deep dive into the cultural shifts of basic kitchen ingredients, as well as how individuals change and adapt their respective narratives of food. All whilst demonstrating the synchronicity across the three countries the TASTE Project is focusing on and their diaspora.
