On 27 May 2025 KITLV welcomed a delegation from the Silpakorn University, Thailand. The visit marked a significant step towards exploring KITLV's research engagement in Southeast Asia. Discussions during the meeting centered on potential collaborations concerning critical issues in the region.
These issues includes community-based research, natural resource governance, ecotourism and other related issues. These areas align closely with KITLV's existing research interests and reflect the pressing contemporary challenges facing Southeast Asia.
Representing the KITLV Management Team, David Kloos met with Ratchakorn Wachirasirodom, Head of the Community Management Program of the Faculty of Management Science. Both presented an overview of the background of their institutions and highlighted the promising prospects for future partnerships.
Thailand holds significant importance in mainland Southeast Asia, not only for its rich historical contributions but also in addressing a range of contemporary issues highly relevant to KITLV's research agenda.
The discussions underscored a mutual interest in fostering academic exchange and joint research initiatives, aiming to deepen understanding and contribute to sustainable development across the region.
