Muzakki Bashori

Muzakki Bashori is a lecturer at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia. He holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He was awarded a Fulbright Visiting Scholar fellowship at Cornell University, USA, and a Pick/Laudati Southeast Asia Fellowship at Northern Illinois University, USA. He was selected to present his research at an international conference in Oman.

At KITLV, Muzakki will conduct research entitled 'Tracing pecel: Visual histories, cultural identity, and culinary heritage in Java'. He aims to utilize relevant archival resources and other materials available at the institute to explore this topic from historical, cultural, and semiotic perspectives. He also plans to develop a digital platform, Petjel, which will document and showcase various aspects of this traditional Javanese culinary heritage.

Muzakki has published articles in reputable international journals, including International Journal of Multilingualism, System, Computer Assisted Language Learning, and Innovation in Language Learning and Teaching. His writings, including Merayakan Sambal Nusantara, have also appeared in Indonesia’s leading national newspaper, Kompas.
