Teuku Reza Fadeli is a historian and lecturer at the Department of History, Universitas Indonesia. He holds a PhD in History from the University of York.

As a visiting fellow at KITLV, he is conducting research for his project 'Wheels of empire: Bicycles, race, and social mobility in colonial and postcolonial Indonesia'. His study examines how cycling shaped everyday life, social mobility, and racial hierarchy from the late nineteenth century to the post-independence period, tracing how a global technology was redefined through local structures of power and aspiration.

Drawing on primary materials held in the KITLV and Leiden University collections, the project situates Indonesia within the wider global history of mobility and empire. It also forms part of the ETH Zurich initiative 'Two wheels, one world: Global perspectives on the history of the bicycle and of cycling', which explores the history from the Global South perspectives. Through this work, Reza seeks to connect histories of technology and urban modernity to broader debates on colonial legacies and postcolonial social change in Southeast Asia.

He is the author of Nuklir Sukarno: Kajian Awal Politik Tenaga Atom Indonesia 1958–1967 (Tangerang: Marjin Kiri, 2021). His writings have also appeared in Whiteboard Journal, IndoProgress, The Jakarta Post, and The Jakarta Globe.
