Research in action - Translating knowledge through museums

JF

Workshop session Research in action - Translating knowledge through museums, by Jude Finies (Terramar).

Museums are more than spaces of display, they are bridges between research and the community. In this workshop, hosted by the Terramar Museum, we explore how academic knowledge can be transformed into engaging exhibitions and community projects. Through case studies, interactive exercises, and group discussions, participants will learn strategies for translating their own research into accessible, impactful formats that encourage dialogue and connection with diverse audiences.

This session is designed for researchers interested in outreach, public engagement, and finding innovative ways to make their work resonate beyond academia.

Jude Finies is a cultural innovator, creative entrepreneur, and connecting leader with deep roots in Bonaire and a global outlook. With a strong background in heritage management, cultural project development, and international collaboration, she is deeply committed to the sustainable cultural development of the island. As director of the Terramar Museum, she successfully led its redesign, resulting in above-average scores on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Currently, as chair of the Cultureel Centrum Bonaire (CCB), she is working to strengthen the institutional foundation of this historic cultural institution.
