Amiel Lopez is a cultural anthropologist from the Southern Philippines and a faculty member in the Department of Anthropology at Ateneo de Davao University.

He earned his MA in Anthropology (2024) from Department of Anthropology at Ateneo de Davao University. His research, “Localizing Climate Change: Perspectives from the Urban Sama-Bajaus,” gained awards from the Association for Asian Studies and the Philippines Social Science Council. 

For nearly a decade, he has been engaging with Sama Dilaut (Bajau) communities across the Philippines, bridging research and praxis as co-founder of DYESABEL Philippines. He also serves as Vice President for Mindanao of UGAT (Ugnayang Pang-Aghamtao), the Anthropological Association of the Philippines, and as the TRACE Philippines Coordinator for KITLV. His work explores climate, mobility, gender, indigeneity, and maritime worlds beyond borders.
