Chaya is a lecturer in Geography at Department of Geography, Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. He is interested in the idea of nature-culture relationship, especially the human dimension of climate change. 

His recent ethnographic research explores what the weather and the so-called “climate change” culturally and historically mean in Thai and Southeast Asian contexts, as well as how the construction of Thai climate policy shape local community's responses to weather. He earned his Ph.D. in Geography from King's College London, specializing in political ecology, environmental justice, and the human dimensions of climate change. His work frequently bridges the gap between scientific climate models and the lived experiences of local communities, focusing heavily on how indigenous resource governance and traditional knowledge intersect with top-down environmental policies in Southeast Asia.
