Kharisma Nabila holds a Master of Arts (by Research) in Archaeology, specializing in Archaeoastronomy, from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Indonesia. His thesis research focuses on indigenous astronomy as reflected in dating components, particularly the nakṣatra (lunar mansion) found in Old Javanese inscriptions dated to the 8th-15th century CE. 

His current position involves an international research project entitled “Tracing Irrigated Agriculture in the Indonesian Archipelago” with UGM and the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies. In 2024, he joined a research collaboration focused on the archaeoastronomical aspects of the Lanna and Sailendra cultures, with BRIN (Indonesia) and NARIT (Thailand). Additionally, he has become an active speaker at academic conferences and workshops, at the University of Melbourne, Australia; Bibliothèque Nationale de France and Observatoire de Paris, France; and other institutions. His work has appeared in Oxford University Press, proceedings, and journals. He is currently exploring inscriptions, prehistoric archaeology, and the cultural sciences to deepen his knowledge of ethno-indigenous astronomy in Indonesia.
