TRACE PhD researcher Hsar Doe Doh Moo has published a new reflection piece with The Transnational Institute (TNI) regarding his advocacy for Indigenous Peoples along the Thai-Myanmar border.

In his article, titled "Reflections on the newly-declared Pawklo Indigenous Stewardship Territory," Doe Doh heralds the opening of the Pawklo Indigenous Stewardship Territory (PIST)—the latest conservation project in lands administered by the Karen National Union in southeast Myanmar.

He highlights that amidst ongoing conflict, the significance of PIST and other Indigenous parks extends far beyond the local environment. These territories serve as powerful models of autonomous, community-based, and democratic administration, ensuring the land's preservation for future generations. Ultimately, they provide vital examples of good governance and environmental conservation for other parts of Myanmar and the rest of the world.
