TRACE PhD Researcher Hsar Doe Doh Moo was recently invited to speak at a webinar organized by Asia Young Indigenous Peoples Network (AYIPN), titled "Defending our lands, reclaiming our futures: Indigenous youth realities across Asia."

During the presentation, Hsar Doe Doh Moo highlighted the imperative role of Karen youth from the Salween Peace Park  (SPP) and Thawthi Taw-Oo Indigenous Park (TTIP) in defending their ancestral lands. He emphasized how these young leaders are revitalizing and integrating biocultural knowledge systems into educational settings. Furthermore, he discussed their impact through youth-led campaigns—such as the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, World Environment Day, and the March 14 Anti-Dam movement—as well as their ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and biodiversity protection through various research initiatives.

A key takeaway from his talk was a powerful call for intergenerational solidarity: "It is important that we as an Indigenous community, youth and elders, recognize our Indigenous leadership to fight the dominant, colonized, and imperialist powers that continue to exploit us."
